On April 3,
2003, HappyPaws Farm received a letter from the Snohomish
County Licensing Department, saying: "You are to make
arrangements to relocate all dogs that have been sheltered
beyond 6 months. The relocation must be completed by
May 31, 2003." This notice comes from a County
ordinance that says shelters like ours can't keep animals
beyond six months.
The dogs
that we are being told to relocate are animals that for many
reasons can't go to foster homes. They are the
most difficult dogs to adopt - and dogs who have suffered so
much until they found a loving, safe place at HappyPaws.
You would love some of these dogs - they are courageous ones
who may be incontinent, have expensive or chronic medical
problems, may have been used for research, may be very old,
may chew incessantly, have separation anxiety, may be fear
biters or dog aggressive, may be feral or a host of other
reasons that cause them to be "slow to adopt out".
Can you
help? $20 or $500? Your dollars will go directly
to saving our "hard to adopt" dogs and you'll receive a receipt and thank you
letter from us.
